Now that spring is in the air and flowers are blooming, it's a great season for hiking and outdoor activities. Have you been to any country parks to enjoy the beauty of nature? Did you know that forty percent of Hong Kong's land has been designated as country parks and special areas to protect rare and endangered species and maintain biodiversity?
The decline in species numbers is closely related to our lives. Every time a species goes extinct, it's not just a life that's forever wiped off the planet, but also a crack in the ecological network, affecting the entire ecosystem. Therefore, maintaining biodiversity is a shared responsibility for all of us humans.
This May, 'Green in Tuen Mun' is themed around the 'International Day for Biological Diversity'. We've prepared a two-day Forest Carnival of Music and Joy to share the importance of biodiversity, as well as ways to protect the natural environment, and to experience the healing connection between humans and nature as we work together to create a more livable environment. Let me briefly introduce the activities we have planned for the day.
The carnival will feature a variety of activities, including the 'Eco-Green Tour Exhibition', which introduces Hong Kong's flora and fauna resources and provides tips for outdoor activities, as well as the 'Cow Hunt' and a 'Free Second-hand Market' where you can hunt for treasures while promoting resource reuse. There will also be fun and educational booth games testing your knowledge of forests and environmental protection, with rich rewards waiting for you! Of course, we'll also have the ever-popular upcycling workshops for both adults and children, where you can unleash your creativity and turn waste into something new and useful!
A quick reminder: you can now earn points for participating in the carnival! Simply take part in at least two activities at one carnival event, or bring at least 2kg of second-hand items to a second-hand collection event and complete the registration with the staff on duty, and you'll earn 1 'Extra Reward' point. Accumulate 2 points in each stage to redeem gifts.
Have fun and earn points for rewards! Mark your calendars and see you there!
